4 buildings, 1 Island, 170 creatives and 1 big tour
Underbelly Arts and The Rocks Pop Up Project are joining forces to bring you an art excursion delight! Indulge yourself in an experience that unfolds and pops open some of Sydney’s crispest creations.
Starting with a coffee in a 150 year old former bank, delve into The Rocks Pop Up Project’s maze of creative minds temporarily residing in four vacant heritage buildings. Snuggle up to a screening of ICE’s DigiDiaries or perouse unique art and design at 47 George St; let your inner poet plant its seeds at the Red Room Company’s Clubhouse in the old puppet shop basement; dream up a bespoke waistcoat at Son of a Master Tailor; and push the ethos of asserting humble, sometimes depreciating honesty through Gaffa’s kinetic sculpture, text and video work in 85 George St.
Top this all off with an organic lunch by the Pop Up DARE Cafe before jumping onto a ferry across Sydney Harbour to Underbelly Arts Lab…
Underbelly Arts 2011 brings you some of the best new works by Australia’s freshest creative talent, all in the incredible surrounds of Cockatoo Island, Sydney Harbour. Watch the artists at work and learn about their projects as they create, build, experiment, workshop, write and rehearse a diverse program of work including electronic and live music, sculpture, theatre, sound and film production, dance and installation.
